The Richmond Freelance and Prototype Model Railroaders, Incorporated (“RF&PMR, Inc.”) is a 501-c-3 non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and educating its members and the general public on the history, science and technology of model railroading. We are always looking for new members to join us. Our members are organized by their interest in particular scale of model railroading and most join the special interest group (SIG) associated with that scale. Most of our members participate in one, some in two, but you are not required to join one.  Although we are primarily a Richmond area organization, we have SIGs in Prince William County and Roanoke, Virginia.

SIGs:

Richmond Area N Trak (RANTrak) – N scale

·         Business Meetings held the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10 am.

·         Wednesday night work sessions most weeks.

·         Clubroom in the Ashland Hanover Shopping Center, 223 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005.

·         Current dues: $13.00 per month ($156 annually).

Virginia Piedmont & Central HO Model Railroaders (VP&C) – HO scale

·         Business Meetings held the 2nd Saturday of every month at 10 am.

·         Thursday morning work sessions most weeks 9am-12.

·         Operations sessions most 4^th Saturdays of the month.

·         Clubroom in the Ashland Hanover Shopping Center, 235 N. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA 23005.

·         Current dues: $12.00 per month. ($144 annually).

River City 3 Railers (RC3R) – O gauge

·         Business Meetings held quarterly, place and location as announced.

·         Work details and running sessions TBD.

·         Clubroom was in the Westchester Commons Shopping Mall, 313 Perimeter Dr., Midlothian, VA 23112.   Looking for a new clubroom!

·         Current dues: $5.00 per month ($60 annually).

Roanoke Valley Model Railroaders – multi-scale

·         Business Meetings held every Tuesday at 6:30 pm.

·          Clubroom in the basement of the Virginia Museum of Transportation, 303 Norfolk Avenue SW, Roanoke, VA 24016.

·         Current dues: $12.00 per month ($144 annually), with a one-time $10.00 initiation fee.

Prince William Model Railroad Crew (PWMRC) - Multi

·         Primarily an HO scale SIG promoting the hobby in and around Manassas, VA

·         Hope to soon be in the boxcar in Manassas or Annaburg Manor.

Joining:

Once you have applied to join the RF&PMR, you can select one or more SIGs with which you would like to participate. Dues are $24 per year (prorated for new members) for Adults 18 and over. Minor children under 18 and adults under guardianship are free with a paying adult/guardian member. You application will be reviewed by the RF&P and/or the SIG you wish to join.  If your application is not approved, all funds will be returned.  SIG fees are in addition to the RF&PMR dues and vary by group.

Participation in one of our special interest groups (SIG) comes with three expectations:

·         You have fun with model railroading. That’s why we’re all here.

·         You participate in the activities of that SIG. That’s kind of the point of joining, right?

·         And you adhere to the SIG policies. Each SIG sets its own dues, in addition to those of the RF&PMR, Inc., may or may not have a clubroom, and has established rules for conduct and leadership. Failing to stay current with your dues and/or misbehaving or violating the rules may result in expulsion from the SIG.
